Job Summary

This role at Daimler Buses involves taking the technical lead in expanding and maintaining effective Functional Safety (FuSa) implementation, primarily focused on lighting systems and associated components for future bus generations. The engineer acts as the independent, central, and globally responsible authority for conducting reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure project conformity with Functional Safety standards, particularly ISO 26262. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing methodologies, processes, and tools to achieve global FuSa governance, creating detailed system and component specifications, and integrating safety requirements. You will support the team in leveraging engineering tools (like DOORS) and integrating Artificial Intelligence to boost efficiency. This position requires a strong technical background in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics and multiple years of experience ensuring safety-critical functions meet the highest standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Required Skills

Education

Technical university degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics. Certification according to IEC 61508 (advantageous).

Experience

  • Multiple years of experience in Functional Safety
  • Experience as a Development Engineer, Software Developer, or comparable position (OEM or Tier-1 supplier)
  • Practical experience with analysis tools (Medini Analyze, DOORS, IQ-FMEA)
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary and international project teams
