Deputy Head of Manufacturing | BTA (m/w/d)

Job Summary

This role supports the 6-person production team at PROGEN Biotechnik GmbH, a specialized Life Science and AAV expert company focused on advancing gene therapy and bioscientific research. The Deputy Head of Manufacturing will be deeply involved in central production processes, assisting the Head of Manufacturing with planning, organization, and review of all production activities. Key daily tasks include process validation, equipment qualification and maintenance, and hands-on laboratory work such as cell culture techniques (human adherent and hybridoma suspension lines) and protein purification/conjugation. The position also involves critical documentation according to Quality Management standards, project work for process optimization and R&D upscaling, and operational duties like acting as the Hygiene Officer and central contact for external IT vendors. Candidates must possess a completed qualification as a Biological Laboratory Assistant (or equivalent) coupled with at least three years of relevant professional experience, excellent self-organization, and a strong hands-on mentality.
