Job Summary
This leadership role involves the strategic management and operational oversight of the Sewer and Road Construction Department for the municipality of Brühl. The Head of Department is responsible for leading a team of 17 staff and directing all municipal civil engineering activities, including road construction, sewer systems, bridge structures, and street lighting. Day-to-day tasks include managing the General Drainage Plan and Wastewater Disposal Concept, as well as handling the entire project lifecycle: planning, tendering, contract awarding, construction supervision, and financial settlement. A key requirement is a degree in Civil Engineering coupled with extensive experience in municipal civil engineering, ideally in a leadership capacity, and strong knowledge of German contract law (VOB, HOAI). This permanent, full-time position offers flexible working hours and the benefits of a public sector employer, serving the community in a location between Cologne and Bonn.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Civil Engineering (Dipl.-Ing. / Master / Bachelor), preferably specialized in Urban Water Management, Road Construction, or Construction Operations. Proof of equivalence for foreign degrees is required.
Experience
- Professional experience in municipal civil engineering (several years implied)
- Experience in a leading or project management function
- Knowledge and experience in planning, execution, and evaluation of sewer rehabilitation (Desirable)
