Job Summary

This role seeks a qualified Scientist in Protein Purification to join the Roche Diagnostics team in Penzberg. The core focus involves developing and optimizing complex Downstream Processing methods for essential biological components like PCR enzymes, transcriptases, and proteases. Day-to-day tasks include hands-on laboratory work utilizing various techniques such as ultrasound cell disruption, high-pressure methods, and diverse chromatography types (Affinity, IEX, HIC, SEC). The scientist will rigorously assess enzyme quality using in-process analytical methods (e.g., activity assays, SDS-PAGE), manage the transfer of developed products into production scale, and ensure meticulous documentation of all procedures. Candidates must possess a degree in a relevant life science field (e.g., Biochemistry or Biotechnology) and proven practical experience in protein handling within a controlled hygiene environment. Success requires a structured, goal-oriented work ethic, strong communication skills, and a willingness to engage in troubleshooting projects.
