Job Summary

This role is for a dedicated Zoologist to join the Research and Collection Department at the Natural History Museum Mainz on a permanent, part-time basis (19.5 hours/week). The primary responsibilities involve curatorial collection management, focusing on the expansion and maintenance of the zoological collections of the museum and the State Collection for Natural History Rhineland-Palatinate. The specialist will coordinate targeted species recording programs, contributing essential data to national biodiversity initiatives (e.g., BfN, Red List Center). A significant part of the job involves collaboration with regional nature and species conservation institutions and developing training programs, such as species identification seminars, including establishing certification standards. Candidates must hold a scientific university degree in Biology or a related field, possess very good zoological knowledge, and have relevant professional experience in zoological research and collection management. This position offers the stability of a public service contract (TVöD), flexible hours, and mobile work options.

Experience
