Job Summary

This is a compelling, full-time, 3-year PhD opportunity focused on cutting-edge Sonogenetics and ultrasonic neurostimulation. Based at Heidelberg University in collaboration with the Institute for Basic Science Center for Nanomedicine (Seoul), the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, modeling, and construction of custom acoustic transducers and holographic lenses. A core part of the role involves shaping acoustic fields in vitro and in vivo, and deeply investigating how ultrasound interacts with biological tissues and engineered microstructures, such as antibubbles. Ideal candidates possess a strong academic background in physics, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering, coupled with a hands-on approach to complex problem-solving. This position offers exposure to an international research environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and a highly interdisciplinary project with significant clinical and translational potential.
