Job Summary

This is a key technical leadership role within the Arnsberg District Government, focusing on managing risks associated with abandoned mining operations (Altbergbau) across North Rhine-Westphalia. The successful candidate will be responsible for process steering and personnel leadership within the 'Surveying Tasks in Abandoned Mining' unit. Day-to-day tasks involve coordinating the evaluation of historical mining documents (maps, operational files), providing technical support for the development of internal GIS applications, and managing relevant databases. Furthermore, the role requires coordinating the surveying team, responding to risk management inquiries from the public and authorities, and advancing the use of remote sensing methods for risk assessment. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety and regional development by proactively mitigating post-mining hazards, combining technical expertise with organizational leadership in a public service context.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diplom, Master, or Magister) in Mining, Mine Surveying, Raw Materials Engineering, Sustainable Resource and Energy Supply, or a comparable field; OR eligibility for State Service in Career Group 2.2 in the Mining or Surveying field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in abandoned mining (Altbergbau) is desirable
  • Experience in handling Geographic Information and Database systems is desirable
  • Experience in managing personnel and processes
