Job Summary

This role involves working as a Scientific Project Employee within the 'Oncolytic Measles Viruses and Vaccine Vectors' research group at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, focusing on a sub-project of the European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness (EVH). The core responsibility is contributing to the development of vaccines against emerging pathogens, such as SARS-CoV-2 and highly pathogenic influenza viruses, utilizing measles vaccine viruses as vectors. Day-to-day tasks include establishing, analyzing, and applying animal models to better understand the protective effects and mechanisms of immune responses to vaccine candidates. A significant portion of the work involves collaboration and communication with national and international stakeholders, primarily conducted in English. The position requires a completed PhD in a relevant life science field and practical experience working under S2 laboratory conditions, offering an opportunity to work on highly current and relevant research in virology and immunology.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or comparable scientific university degree (required), Doctoral degree (PhD) in Biology, Biochemistry, Human Biology, or a related field (required), FELASA B certification (desirable)

Experience

  • Completed PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Human Biology, or a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with general laboratory work
  • At least one year of practical experience under S2 laboratory conditions
  • Willingness to conduct animal experiments and work with infectious pathogens up to S3 safety level
  • Desirable: Knowledge and practical experience with cell cultures, virological, immunological, or animal experimental techniques (FELASA B)
