Job Summary

This role seeks a passionate Data Engineer to join FUNKE, one of Germany's largest media groups, to drive their digital transformation and data-driven initiatives. The core responsibility involves designing, developing, and operating robust, scalable data pipelines and architectures entirely within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will collaborate closely with product teams and data scientists to connect data sources, ensure optimal data flow, and implement reliable interfaces, focusing heavily on automation, monitoring, and error handling. A key part of the job is ensuring data quality, documentation, and continuous improvement of ETL/ELT processes, leveraging modern practices like CI/CD, automated testing, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform). Candidates must possess strong SQL and Python skills, experience with ETL/ELT frameworks like Airflow or dbt, and at least two years of professional experience in Cloud Data Warehousing (e.g., BigQuery). Excellent German language skills (C1) are essential for this high-impact position, which offers the opportunity to actively shape the data platform and tech stack.
