Job Summary

The Biobank Infrastructure Coordinator will play a crucial role in establishing the new Biobank at the Medical University Lausitz - Carl Thiem. Day-to-day responsibilities involve conducting needs and requirements analyses, performing market research, and developing concepts for the interim phase. A significant part of the role includes coordinating collaboration with central safety and regulatory officers (Data Protection, Hazardous Materials, Fire Safety, etc.), managing IT implementation, and coordinating interfaces with internal and external partners. The coordinator will also plan and deliver necessary training for staff and assist the construction department with planning the structural and technical infrastructure. This position requires a university degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine, or a related field, coupled with demonstrable professional experience in biobanking, clinical research, or laboratory organization. Familiarity with national and international biobank standards (e.g., ISO 20387) and high organizational competence are essential for success in this innovative and interdisciplinary environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine, Medical Technology, Public Health, or comparable field. Project Management certification (e.g., GPM/IPMA, PRINCE2) is desirable.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in biobanking, clinical research, or laboratory organization
  • Experience in planning and implementation of construction or infrastructure projects in a scientific-medical environment (advantageous)
  • Knowledge or qualifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 20387, GxP, GLP/GCP) (advantageous)
  • Familiarity with national and international Biobank standards (e.g., BBMRI-ERIC, ISO 20387)
  • Knowledge of official requirements (e.g., TRBA 100, TRBA 250)

  • This is a full-time position. The contract is initially limited until December 31, 2028, for the duration of the Biobank establishment project, with the option for extension.
