Job Summary

This role seeks a highly organized Technical Assistant (CTA/BTA/Chemical Laboratory Technician) to support cutting-edge research in Applied Quantum Technologies at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Daily responsibilities involve supporting the planning and execution of scientific projects within laboratory and cleanroom environments. Key tasks include developing and implementing chemical cleaning and processing procedures, ensuring the meticulous maintenance of cleanroom infrastructure and technical equipment, and strictly monitoring work processes according to established quality and safety standards. You will also be responsible for creating, maintaining, and archiving essential documentation, protocols, and operating instructions. The successful candidate must possess fundamental chemical knowledge, relevant professional experience, and excellent German (C2) and good English (B2) skills. This position offers an attractive, interdisciplinary work setting where you contribute directly to the latest developments in quantum sensors and integrated circuits, with flexible hours and the potential for a permanent contract following the initial fixed-term period.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), or Chemical Laboratory Technician, or comparable technical qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a comparable technical qualification
  • Experience working under cleanroom conditions (ideally)
  • Professional experience handling chemicals and laboratory substances
