Job Summary

This role involves serving as a specialist in hydrology and water management for the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration, focusing on the Main-Danube Canal. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and monitoring control specifications for water management, regulating canal water levels to ensure shipping safety during extreme conditions (high/low water, ice), and providing technical oversight for the Gösselthal control center. Day-to-day tasks include managing the Dürrloh pumped storage facility, analyzing hydrometeorological data using specialized software, and preparing reports on water levels and ice warnings. Key requirements include a relevant Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Water Management, or Civil Engineering, along with deep professional knowledge in hydrological measurement and data processing. This is an attractive, permanent, full-time position based in Nuremberg, offering the opportunity to actively contribute to the sustainability and functionality of vital waterways.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree (FH-Diploma / Bachelor) in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Water Management, or Civil Engineering; or qualification for the higher technical and environmental administrative service.
