Job Summary
This role involves the critical operation and maintenance of specialized Neutral Particle Injection (NPI) systems, which are vital for plasma heating in major fusion experiments like ITER and ASDEX Upgrade. The Technician will be responsible for the setup, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of mechanical components within these complex experimental facilities. Key daily tasks include vacuum-compatible assembly of ion sources and extraction systems, supporting scientific experiments, and rapid troubleshooting during operational disruptions. Success requires a qualification as a State Certified Technician in fields like Mechanical Engineering or Physical Technology, coupled with at least two years of relevant professional experience. Knowledge of vacuum technology, mechanical processing, and electrical/control systems is highly desirable.
