Job Summary

The German Weather Service (DWD) is seeking a Head of the Measurement Systems Division in Hamburg-Sasel to lead a competent and innovative team responsible for ensuring a reliable and modern data foundation for DWD's services. This leadership role involves comprehensive management duties, including personnel leadership, resource planning, and quality assurance for the division's output. Day-to-day activities include organizing and coordinating technical work, identifying innovation fields, developing technically-scientific concepts for measurement technology implementation, and representing the DWD in national and international bodies like WMO and ICAO. The ideal candidate must possess a completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a natural science or technical field, coupled with strong leadership capabilities and fluent proficiency in both German (C1) and English (B2). Experience in meteorological measurement systems, data acquisition, and quality management is highly desirable for success in this critical role.
