Job Summary

This leadership role involves establishing, managing, and strategically developing a working group focused on GMP-compliant manufacturing and testing activities within clinical immunology research and patient-oriented cell or gene therapies. The Group Leader will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing GMP processes according to EU guidelines and national regulations (AMG, AMWHV, GCP/GMP). Key duties include scientific responsibility for validation, documentation, and continuous optimization of manufacturing processes, as well as supervising and training scientific and technical staff to ensure GMP compliance and quality assurance. The position requires coordinating interdisciplinary projects, collaborating with external partners like the Fraunhofer IZI, and actively initiating and acquiring third-party funded research projects (BMBF, EU, DFG, industry collaborations). This is an excellent opportunity for a highly qualified scientist with leadership experience to shape translational research in advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Natural Sciences or Medicine (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, or comparable), ideally with a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat., Dr. med., or PhD)

Experience

  • Several years of experience in a GMP-regulated environment (manufacturing, quality assurance, validation, or process development)
  • Proven experience in project management and personnel leadership in an academic or industrial context
  • Experience in acquiring and executing third-party funded projects, preferably at the interface between science and industry
