Job Summary

This role offers a meaningful, full-time, permanent position within the public sector, supporting the Special Unit Tax Supervision (SES) at the Koblenz Tax Office. The IT Specialist will work in an interdisciplinary team alongside tax investigators, focusing on uncovering new areas of tax evasion, often across state lines. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing complex tax-related facts and large datasets, and developing customized IT solutions. This involves programming database-driven applications (front- and backend), interfaces, and maintaining existing data and software structures. Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a comparable degree, possess practical experience in object-oriented programming (such as C#, Java, or C++), and have fundamental knowledge of relational databases and web technologies (JSON, XML, HTML, CSS). The position is attractive due to its focus on public service, flexible work arrangements, and the potential for subsequent civil service appointment (Verbeamtung).

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or comparable degree

Experience

  • Practical experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., C#, Java, C++)
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MariaDB, Oracle, SQL)
  • Experience in analyzing and preparing large data volumes
  • Experience in developing database-based applications and interfaces
