Job Summary

This is a permanent, full-time professorship focused on teaching and applied research within the new Bachelor's program, 'Creative, Synthetic & Interactive Media (B.A.)', at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The successful candidate will drive the exploration, development, and practical application of generative AI technologies for synthetic media creation, emphasizing social and ecological action within an entrepreneurial context. Key responsibilities include designing and leading a media-focused Makerspace to foster agile, project-based learning and prototyping of AI-supported solutions, particularly at the intersection of media design, technology, and social entrepreneurship. The role requires integrating entrepreneurial concepts—such as leadership, business model development, and ethical decision-making—into the curriculum, developing innovative teaching formats, and actively participating in academic self-governance and internationalization efforts, including conducting courses in English.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's level or comparable), preferably in Media Informatics, Computer Science, or Digital Media; Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent outstanding professional achievements in the relevant field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in digital/synthetic media and (generative) AI, preferably in digital agencies
  • Experience in academic teaching and/or professional training is desirable
  • Special aptitude for scientific work, typically demonstrated by a doctorate in a relevant field
  • Professional experience in the application and research areas of the professorship
