Job Summary

This role is for a Part-time Doctoral Researcher focusing on developing novel therapeutic strategies for common cardiovascular diseases using advanced CRISPR-Cas Gene Editing techniques, specifically Base and Prime Editing. Day-to-day tasks involve designing and optimizing editing strategies in vitro using HEK293 cells, human stem cells, and cardiomyocytes, followed by in vivo validation in animal models and analysis of human patient biopsies. Key qualifications include a completed university degree in Biology, Molecular Medicine, or a related field, along with a strong motivation for interdisciplinary teamwork and a willingness to handle small animals (mice). The position offers exciting, innovative research topics, excellent supervision, strong funding through DFG and the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, and strong support for international congress participation and first-author publications, with a realistic prospect of contract extension and future Postdoc opportunities.
