Job Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (IZFP) seeks a highly qualified individual to cooperatively lead the 'Applied AI' sub-theme field within their Center of Expertise. This strategic role involves significant responsibility for shaping the technical direction of the area, focusing particularly on applying AI methods for the acquisition and evaluation of sensor signals, thereby complementing existing expertise in signal processing and data analysis. Day-to-day tasks include personnel management within a shared leadership framework, acquiring and leading interdisciplinary industry and publicly funded research projects, and ensuring the technical quality of results generated in the applied AI domain. Candidates must possess a strong engineering background, proven expertise in AI-based signal processing, and experience in scientific work and project leadership. This position offers a high degree of creative freedom and the opportunity to drive technological solutions at the intersection of science and industry.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Engineering Science (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) or a comparable field. Completed doctorate in a relevant field is a significant advantage.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in scientific work
  • Relevant experience in technical publications
  • Experience in the acquisition, processing, and leadership of interdisciplinary projects
  • Initial experience in the strategic and operational leadership of an organizational unit (advantageous)
  • Initial experience in leading employees (advantageous)
