Job Summary

The Landwirtschaftliches Technologiezentrum Augustenberg (LTZ) is seeking three dedicated Biological Laboratory Technicians or Biological Technical Assistants for a one-year fixed-term contract in Karlsruhe-Durlach. This role is crucial for the Seed Testing department, where the successful candidates will perform routine analysis on thousands of seed samples (maize, grains, grasses, clover, etc.) annually. Day-to-day tasks involve meticulous purity and contaminant testing, preparing and evaluating germination capacity tests and vigor tests, and managing sample preparation, division, and storage. This position requires high reliability, self-reliance, sustained concentration, and manual dexterity, often involving seated work using optical aids. Candidates must possess a completed vocational training in the field and demonstrable experience in routine biological laboratory procedures, along with C2 level German proficiency.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician or Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or comparable technical assistant/laboratory qualification with a minimum grade of "satisfactory"

Experience

  • Professional experience in routine laboratory activities, such as practical biological examinations
  • Willingness to flexibly adjust working hours according to testing requirements (Summer is peak season)
  • High degree of reliability and self-reliant working required
