This is a stimulating opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Kerl Lab, focusing on cancer immunology within the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic. The core mission involves investigating cellular heterogeneity in pediatric tumors and understanding the mechanisms of communication between immune and tumor cells, which impacts therapy response. Key daily activities include the independent planning, execution, documentation, and analysis of complex experiments using advanced single cell-based technologies, such as single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multiplex immunohistochemistry. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in life sciences or a related field, possess successful postdoctoral experience in immunology or cancer immunology, and have a strong publication record. This role is ideal for a motivated scientist seeking to contribute to translational research, mentor PhD students, secure grant funding, and benefit from a state-of-the-art laboratory and support for further academic qualifications like habilitation.

Experience

  • Successful postdoctoral experience in immunology or cancer immunology including excellent publication record
  • Professional experience with transcriptomics and immunohistochemistry
  • Professional experience in cell culture of diverse cell lines, 3D cultures and primary immune cells
  • Experience in supporting and supervision of PhD student projects
