Job Summary

As a Senior Biologist, you will be instrumental in conducting field and mapping work with a focus on fauna, independently preparing species protection reports and faunal planning area analyses. This role also involves significant project management responsibilities, including overseeing timelines and cost control for planning and consulting projects. You will conduct preliminary assessments and compatibility studies in line with the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive and perform screenings according to environmental impact assessment regulations. Additionally, you will support environmental planning efforts, including environmental impact assessment reports and landscape management plans. This position is ideal for an experienced biologist passionate about nature and species conservation, offering the chance to contribute to sustainable infrastructure and mobility solutions within a leading railway engineering and consulting firm.

Required Skills

Education

Degree in Biology (focus on Nature Conservation, Zoology, Ecology), Environmental and Landscape Planning, Geography, Geoecology, or a comparable field

Experience

  • At least 4 years of professional experience in field and mapping work, species protection, and environmental assessment
  • In-depth knowledge of nature and species conservation and the FFH Directive
  • Experience in independently handling and preparing environmental expert opinions
  • Strong methodological competence in faunal mapping
  • Knowledge of project management with financial and schedule responsibility
