Job Summary

The Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is seeking a proactive Liaison Manager to support the internationally focused theoretical evolutionary ecology research group (AG Kokko). This role is crucial for strengthening the group's objective of becoming a global hub for evolutionary studies. The manager will handle diverse demands of an international workforce, focusing on both scientific support and practical logistics. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating group workflows, managing budgets, supporting research fund acquisition, handling travel and personnel matters, and executing writing tasks in both German and English. The ideal candidate possesses a scientific background, preferably a PhD in a STEM field, and strong technical skills, including knowledge of programming languages like Python, R, and Matlab, alongside experience with UNIX/Linux and Windows environments. This permanent, part-time position (75%) offers a varied and responsible challenge within a dynamic academic culture.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed scientific university studies in Biology, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics, (Bio)physics, Mathematics, or related fields; Preferably a PhD in a STEM subject; In-depth knowledge of life sciences

Experience

  • Experience with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems and utilities
