Associate Expert R&D Automation | Biologist (m/w/d)

Job Summary

This permanent, entry-level position in Heidelberg seeks an Associate Expert to join the Research & Development Automation and Data Management group at Octapharma Biopharmaceuticals. The core responsibility is the development, adaptation, and maintenance of automated workflows using state-of-the-art liquid handlers, supporting various scientific groups across R&D. Day-to-day tasks include providing first-line technical support and troubleshooting for automation systems, coordinating external maintenance, and conducting internal user training. A critical focus is streamlining workflows and ensuring seamless data acquisition and processing by linking automated systems with in-house data management and LIMS tools. Candidates must possess an M.Sc. in Life Sciences or equivalent, practical experience with liquid handling platforms (preferably Tecan Freedom EVOware®), and programming proficiency in Python. This role requires strong cooperative and communicative skills in an interdisciplinary environment, offering the opportunity to contribute to vital medical advancements.
