Job Summary

This role is an exciting opportunity at Wismut GmbH, a federally owned company dedicated to the remediation and recultivation of regions affected by uranium mining in Saxony and Thuringia. The successful candidate, an Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist, will join the Mining Remediation/Geotechnics department in Ronneburg. Day-to-day responsibilities involve independently planning and implementing remediation and post-mining projects, focusing on water and soil disciplines. Key tasks include managing external contractors, providing technical support for official approval processes, reviewing permits, drafting expert reports, and fulfilling duties as the operational Waste Officer (Abfallbeauftragter) for the company. Candidates must hold a relevant technical degree (Mining, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or Geosciences), possess long-term professional experience in operational environmental protection, especially waste management, and demonstrate very good written and spoken German skills. This position offers involvement in an internationally significant, complex environmental and technical challenge.

Required Skills

Education

University or technical college degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a comparable geo/natural science discipline (e.g., Geology, Geoecology, Geochemistry); Proof of expertise according to § 9 of the Waste Officer Ordinance (AbfBeauftrV).

Experience

  • Long-term professional experience in operational environmental protection, especially in waste management
  • Experience in the remediation of mining sites or contaminated sites remediation (desirable)

Languages

German (Fluent)
