Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position as Head of the Public Order Department in Bad Harzburg involves comprehensive leadership and strategic management of a 12-person team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical, organizational, and disciplinary guidance of the department, ensuring all tasks adhere to legal and organizational regulations. Key responsibilities include making fundamental specialist decisions, representing the department internally and externally (e.g., in municipal committees), preparing and monitoring council resolutions, and drafting crucial municipal statutes and ordinances (such as those concerning public safety, fire department fees, and weekly markets). The role also demands active participation in election preparation and execution, coordinating public order measures during special hazard situations (like disaster protection and evacuations), and acting as the city's representative in administrative and district court proceedings. Candidates must possess a degree in Public Administration or related fields and demonstrate strong leadership, decision-making, and citizen-oriented communication skills.

Required Skills

Education

Required: Qualification for the first entry-level position of Career Group 2 (formerly higher service) in General Services, OR a Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Public Administration, Administrative Sciences, or Administrative Business Economics. Foreign degrees require proof of equivalence to German qualifications.

Experience
