Job Summary

This engineering role is situated within the Drivetrain Technology group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) in Bremerhaven, focusing on accelerating the energy transition. The core responsibility involves developing and validating complex simulation models for Wind Turbine Drivetrains (WEA) and their crucial components, such as main bearings, gearboxes, and plain bearings. You will engage in detailed technical analysis, including investigating drivetrain dynamics, and utilize your creativity to design suitable scaled test procedures aimed at cost reduction. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the construction of test bench components and continuously refine existing models and simulation frameworks. Key qualifications include a Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and professional knowledge of drivetrains and simulation techniques, ideally multi-body simulations. The position offers the opportunity to assume (sub-)project leadership, present scientific results at conferences, and pursue a doctorate, making it ideal for professionals seeking a challenging and impactful role in renewable energy research.
