Job Summary

This role is for a highly motivated researcher to drive innovation in quantum and semiconductor technologies, specifically focusing on Ion-Trap Chips (ITCs), as part of the European Chips Act initiative at Silicon Austria Labs (SAL). The researcher will become an integral part of an international team dedicated to realizing next-generation quantum technology building blocks. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting ITC development and fabrication in cleanroom facilities, utilizing 200 mm wafer-level technology, and assisting with the testing and technological advancement of developed devices. The position requires a PhD or Master's degree in Physics, Quantum Technology, or related engineering, coupled with a strong background in trapped-ion quantum technology and some experience in semiconductor manufacturing. This is a temporary position (approximately 3 years) embedded in an international collaborative network, offering the chance to communicate research findings, align with industry partners, and contribute to R&D project acquisition.

PhD or Master of Science (MSc) in Physics, Quantum Technology, Electronics Engineering, or similar

Experience

  • Background in trapped-ion quantum technology
  • Some experience in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Professional experience in an industrial environment (asset)
