Job Summary

This role seeks a dedicated Research Associate to conceptualize, plan, and execute complex experiments within ongoing scientific research projects focused on human and environmental diagnostics. Daily activities involve practical laboratory work, including the isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from human blood samples and the detection of environmental substances using soft hydrogel particles. A crucial part of the job is establishing and validating novel analytical methods, utilizing techniques such as gradient centrifugation, microfluidic systems, and various forms of electrophoresis and microscopy (Fluorescence, RICM). The associate will be responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and presentation of their research data, and will also supervise technical assistants. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant natural science field and demonstrate good proficiency in both German and English, alongside a precise and independent working style. This is a challenging three-year fixed-term position in a modern S2-Laboratory, offering valuable experience in diagnostics and hematology.

Required Skills

Education

Completed natural science degree (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, Laboratory Medicine, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in various electrophoresis procedures
  • Experience in methods for cell separation/purification (desirable)
  • Professional experience in experiment conception, planning, and execution

  • Fixed-term contract (3 years) within a third-party funded project, with option for extension. Requirement for independent, careful, and precise working methods. High commitment and willingness to learn. Work conducted in a Biosafety Level 2 (S2) Laboratory.
