Job Summary
This challenging, fixed-term 30-month position as a Doctoral Researcher/Research Associate is based at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, focusing on the innovative InMyco project. The core responsibility involves developing novel mycelium composites using regional agricultural and industrial waste streams, alongside establishing a comprehensive Mycotheque (fungal library) and documentation structure. Daily tasks include conceptualizing project content, developing and optimizing both solid-state and submerged bioprocesses, conducting rigorous scientific literature reviews, formulating hypotheses, and publishing results in prestigious international journals and conferences. Candidates must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) with very good results in a relevant scientific field like Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering, possess fundamental knowledge of bioprocess development, and demonstrate routine laboratory proficiency. This role offers the unique opportunity to pursue a PhD in Life Sciences while contributing to cutting-edge sustainable materials research within an interdisciplinary team.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree (or equivalent, e.g., University Diploma, PhD) completed with very good success in Natural Science or Engineering (e.g., Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering)
Experience
- Fundamental knowledge in bioprocess engineering/development
- Professional experience in routine laboratory operations
- Ideally, initial experience working with Fungi in a bioreactor
- Expertise in Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering (desirable)
