Job Summary

The Municipality of Berne is seeking two dedicated Civil Engineers to manage and execute renewal and renovation projects focused on enhancing local infrastructure, ensuring safe and comfortable mobility for residents. Day-to-day responsibilities include independently leading projects in road construction, structural engineering (bridges, rainwater drainage, playgrounds, street lighting), and overseeing external specialist engineers. A core function involves project management, including technical coordination of all planning participants, quality checking external planning services against HOAI standards, and preparing tender documents. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and at least two years of relevant professional experience in new construction and renovation of roads or structures. Success in this role requires strong knowledge of construction contract and procurement law (VOB, VgV, HOAI), excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to achieving economic objectives while maintaining high-quality infrastructure.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the new construction and renovation of roads or engineering structures
  • Experience in preparing tender documents is desirable

  • Qualified knowledge and application experience in construction contract and procurement law
