Job Summary

This role is for an Electrical Engineer specializing in Protection Systems, based in Grafenrheinfeld, focusing on the full lifecycle of secondary technology in low, medium, and high-voltage power systems. Day-to-day tasks include commissioning equipment, developing complex protection and control concepts, driving hardware design from initial concepts through manufacturing and customer acceptance, and parameterizing/testing control and protection devices, often utilizing OMICRON CMC equipment. Key requirements include a degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Energy Technology (or an equivalent technician qualification), profound knowledge of MS/NS protection standards, and hands-on experience with major protection relays like Siemens SIPROTEC, ABB, and Schneider Electric. Expertise in communication protocols, particularly IEC 61850, is essential. The position requires strong teamwork skills, fluency in both German and English, and a willingness to travel worldwide, offering the attraction of a permanent contract and opportunities for professional development.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Electrical Engineering (focus on Energy Technology) or comparable; alternatively, completed training as an Electrical Technician (focus on Energy Technology) or comparable.

Experience

  • Profound knowledge of standards and testing concepts in MV/LV protection.
  • Experience in parameterization and testing of Siemens SIPROTEC 4&5, ABB, and Schneider Electric protection relays.
  • Solid knowledge of communication network concepts (RSPT, PRP, HSR) and the IEC61850 protocol.
  • Strong understanding of switchgear hardware design and drawings.
  • Experience in coordinating project schedules and deadlines.
