Job Summary
The Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture, and Geology (LfULG) is seeking a Head of Department for Air Quality. This pivotal role involves both administrative and technical leadership, overseeing the monitoring of air quality, investigating pollution causes, managing emission inventories, and conducting air quality modeling. The successful candidate will provide expert advice to the LfULG leadership and the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture, represent the LfULG in various expert committees at state and federal levels, and exercise professional oversight over the State Operating Company for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL) in the air measurement network and measurement tasks. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diplom/Master) in natural sciences or engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Meteorology, Environmental Technology, Process Engineering) or a comparable field. For Fachhochschule degrees, an accredited Master's degree is required.
Experience
- Professional experience in air quality, immission measurement technology, or emission inventory management
- Experience in administrative and technical leadership (advantageous)
- Professional experience at different administrative levels or outside public service (for Beamte/civil servants)
Languages
Additional
- Must possess a Class B driving license. For Beamte (civil servants), must hold at least an A14 SächsBesG position and meet promotion requirements for A15 SächsBesG. For non-Beamte, must be classified in at least EG 13 TV-L and meet requirements for EG 15 TV-L, including breadth and depth of experience comparable to Beamte promotion requirements. Work permit for Germany required.
