Job Summary

This fixed-term Research Associate position is part of the ERC project MobiChrom at Kiel University, offering the significant opportunity to pursue doctoral studies. The primary goal is to investigate the genetic basis and mechanisms of horizontal transfer of accessory chromosomes between fungal strains and species, focusing on the entomopathogenic fungus *Metarhizium*. Day-to-day responsibilities involve designing and executing fundamental scientific research, leveraging the high frequency of chromosome transfer observed in this genus to understand a phenomenon highly relevant to important plant pathogens. Candidates must possess a completed Master's degree in Genomics, ideally Fungal Genomics, and demonstrate professional experience in analyzing fungus-host interactions. Strong motivation to learn and explore scientific questions, coupled with good English proficiency, are essential for success in this cutting-edge biological research role.
