Job Summary

The Berlin Audit Office is seeking a Data Scientist / Data Engineer with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering to support its financial oversight functions. In this role, you will provide expert technical support for audit projects, particularly those related to vehicle procurement and energy sector investments within Berlin's public administration. Your daily tasks will involve creating data analyses and dashboards using Business Intelligence software, exploring and evaluating AI-supported data analysis applications, and developing and maintaining IT infrastructure and data management systems for data acquisition and quality assurance. You will also be responsible for selecting and implementing appropriate data models, analysis, and machine learning methods, ensuring knowledge transfer to various departments, and collaborating with external partners on data science matters. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to public finance control in a digitally advanced environment with flexible working conditions.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering, or a completed preparatory service for the second entry-level of career group 2 of the civil engineering service.

Experience

  • Professional experience in data analysis, data mining, machine learning methods, and data management/Big Data
  • Professional experience in mechanical engineering contexts, particularly related to vehicle procurement and energy sector investments

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Applicants must meet the career path requirements for career group 2, second entry-level of the technical services, civil engineering branch, or have equivalent professional experience as per § 25 Abs. 3 i.V.m. § 6 Abs. 5 LVO-TD. The entire selection process will be conducted in German, and a recognized German language certificate (minimum C1) is required if German is not the applicant's native language.
