Job Summary

This role involves leading and strategically developing the accredited operational laboratory team at the Ruhleben site for Berlin Water Utilities, Germany's largest water and wastewater company. The Head of Operational Laboratory will oversee the analysis of approximately 63,000 water samples annually from waterworks, sewage treatment plants, and the pipe network, ensuring the highest standards of water quality and data integrity. Key responsibilities include optimizing overarching process flows, defining requirements for competency and impartiality, and planning and implementing modernization measures in analytics to boost efficiency and norm conformity (e.g., DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025). The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Chemistry, or a comparable scientific/engineering discipline, coupled with relevant professional experience. Strong leadership skills, expertise in chemical analysis (especially wastewater analysis), and deep knowledge of digital lab systems like LIMS, SAP, and Quentic are essential for validating data and reporting findings to relevant authorities.
