Job Summary

This role involves taking responsibility for the full accounting cycle within a leading international commercial law firm in Munich. The primary focus is the preparation of accurate monthly and annual financial statements compliant with the German Commercial Code (HGB). Day-to-day tasks include managing comprehensive tax duties, such as preparing declarations for VAT, payroll, income, and corporate taxes, and coordinating closely with external tax consultants. A key aspect of the position is leading projects aimed at optimizing existing bookkeeping processes and implementing new accounting standards. Furthermore, the incumbent will be crucial in establishing and maintaining robust internal control systems (ICS) to mitigate financial risks, as well as accurately managing provisions and accruals. Candidates must possess profound knowledge of HGB, relevant professional experience in accounting—ideally within a partnership structure—and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and contribute to the firm's long-term strategic projects.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Tax Specialist (Steuerfachangestellte) combined with ongoing or completed advanced training as a Certified Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter) or Certified Tax Specialist (Steuerfachwirt). Alternatively, a degree in Economics with a specialization in Accounting.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in accounting, especially in a partnership firm
