Job Summary
This role is for a dedicated Biological Technical Assistant to join the Host-Microbe Interactome research group, located at the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB) @ DESY Hamburg. The assistant will actively contribute to research projects investigating how pathogenic mycobacteria, such as Mycobacterium marinum, manipulate host lipid metabolism during infection at the subcellular level. Daily tasks involve working under Biosafety Level 2 conditions, utilizing strong skills in cell culture, microbiology, and/or molecular biology techniques. Candidates must possess a completed technical assistant qualification (CTA, BTA, or MTA) and demonstrate comprehensive experience in laboratory management, including organization, procurement, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety standards. Good IT skills and very strong proficiency in English are essential. Education
Completed training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or Medical Technical Assistant (MTA)
Experience
- Comprehensive experience in laboratory management (organization, ordering, equipment maintenance)
- Professional experience working under Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) conditions
- Professional experience utilizing cell biological, microbiological, and/or molecular biological procedures
