Job Summary

This role seeks a dedicated and structured IT Infrastructure Administrator to support the critical research apparatus of a renowned international Max Planck Institute. The administrator will be pivotal in managing and optimizing the institute's network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, Firewalls, and VPNs. Core responsibilities involve the administration of virtualized Windows and Linux servers, the operation and maintenance of central IT services, and ensuring reliable backup systems to support international research projects. A unique and challenging aspect of this position involves performing physical maintenance, installation, and repair of IT infrastructure on a 325-meter measuring station located in a remote rainforest environment. Candidates must possess a university degree in Computer Science or equivalent, professional experience in network and server administration, strong knowledge of IT security and compliance (e.g., ISO 27001), and secure English language skills for communication within the international research community.
