Job Summary

This role seeks an Engineer or Scientist to serve as an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Expert and Inspector (Aufsichtsperson I). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety by monitoring and advising member companies, educational institutions, and fire departments on all OSH matters, including issuing necessary directives. Day-to-day tasks involve investigating the root causes of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, conducting specialized seminars on safety and health protection, collaborating in expert working groups, and producing technical publications. Candidates must possess a high level of communication and rhetorical skills, a willingness to perform fieldwork, and an academic degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline. This position offers a structured preparatory service leading to an unlimited contract and the possibility of future civil service appointment (Verbeamtung).

Required Skills

Education

Academic degree (Master's, Diploma, or equivalent) in Engineering Sciences, Natural Sciences, Nursing Sciences, Psychology, or Teaching (for natural science subjects); OR Certification as an Inspector/Supervisor (Aufsichtsperson)

Experience

  • Preferably two years of professional experience in the field of study
  • Professional experience in monitoring and advising organizations on OSH issues
  • Experience in accident cause determination and prevention
  • Successful completion of the required preparatory service/training to qualify as Inspector I

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Willingness to perform fieldwork; Class B Driver's License; Citizenship of an EU country; Prior training for fire service is helpful
