Doctoral Researcher in Plant Physiology | Biologe (m/w/d)
Universität Würzburg
Job Summary
This Doctoral Researcher position at the Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg (JMU) focuses on a DFG-funded project investigating the molecular mechanism of long-distance calcium (Ca2+) signal propagation in plants, specifically exploring the critical role of the vacuole as a Ca2+ storage unit. The successful candidate will join the Chair of Molecular Plant Physiology and Biophysics and utilize cutting-edge methodologies, including molecular biological, optogenetic, microscopic, and biophysical techniques (such as Electrophysiology and CRISPR/Cas9). Daily activities involve conducting research experiments aimed at understanding how strong stimuli like injury or heat trigger electrical and cytosolic Ca2+ signals that spread across the plant. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual holding a Master's degree in Biology or a related discipline, possessing a strong interest in plant sensing and signal processing, and seeking structured, advanced scientific training.
