Job Summary

This role involves the independent planning and execution of complex chemical syntheses related to polymers and their precursors. The Scientist will be responsible for conducting intricate organic-preparative syntheses, including the isolation and purification of functionalized polymers, and evaluating these products using advanced chemical and physical methods such as GPC, NMR, and UV-Vis. A key focus is optimizing and scaling established synthesis processes to prepare them for transfer into production. The successful candidate is expected to evaluate new developments, expand specialized knowledge, and actively contribute to interdisciplinary projects while ensuring cross-site communication. Candidates must possess a university degree, preferably a PhD, or a Master's degree with initial professional experience, specializing in Polymer or Macromolecular Chemistry, coupled with strong preparative chemistry expertise and fluency in both German and English.

University Degree (Master's minimum, PhD preferred) in Chemistry, specializing in Polymer Chemistry or Macromolecular Chemistry

Experience

  • Initial professional experience post-PhD, or professional experience post-Master's degree in Chemistry
  • Strong chemical-preparative background
  • Comprehensive expertise in the design and synthesis of homo- and copolymers
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, functionalization, and modification of tailored polymer structures
  • Experience in process scale-up and process development (advantageous)
