Job Summary

This role involves the continued development of the open Scientific Measurement Board (openSMB) software for a federal research institute focused on Baltic Sea fisheries. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing hardware-related firmware components, integrating devices via operating system interfaces (BT, USB, RS232), and adapting the database structure. A key part of the job is developing a user-friendly web interface and defining an installation process. This position offers the chance to contribute to scientific research for sustainable fisheries, potentially including participation in sea voyages. It's an excellent opportunity for a developer to apply their skills in an interdisciplinary research environment, with a focus on practical application and documentation.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree (FH-Diplom, B.Eng., or BSc.) in Computer Science or a related field

Experience

  • Professional experience in at least two of the following: hardware-related programming (C, C++, e.g., drivers, API, RPC), embedded systems (e.g., BeagleBoneBlack) on Linux-basis (Debian), SQL databases (PostgreSQL), or User-Interface (Webinterface, HTML, CSS, JS)
  • Professional experience (advantageous)
