Job Summary
This role involves supporting cutting-edge research in developmental epigenetics at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany. The successful candidate will be instrumental in investigating epigenetic events during gamete formation and the establishment of the zygotic epigenome. Day-to-day tasks include experimental planning, conducting molecular biology experiments with DNA, RNA, and proteins, maintaining and breeding Drosophila stocks, performing crosses and screenings, and executing cell biology experiments such as immunohistochemistry. The position also requires meticulous laboratory organization and maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and responsible individual with a background in laboratory assistance to contribute to fundamental biological research in an international and supportive environment.
Required Skills
Education
Completed training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA), Laboratory Assistant, or comparable qualification
Experience
- Experience in Drosophila husbandry (stock maintenance, crosses) OR
- Experience in protein biochemistry OR
- Experience in basic molecular techniques (DNA/RNA extractions, PCR) OR
- Experience in mammalian cell culture systems
- Desired: Experience with Drosophila
- Desired: Experience with mice
- Desired: Experience with cell cultures
