Job Summary
This role involves providing technical support to a marine algae ecology and applications research group, focusing on the role of marine algae in oceanic carbon and nutrient cycles, and their potential for carbon dioxide removal, materials, and biofuels. The successful candidate will standardize and conduct biogeochemical and molecular analyses, prepare and maintain advanced measuring instruments like Imaging Flow Cytometers and pCO2 sensors, and assist with training students during expeditions. This position is ideal for someone passionate about marine science, eager to participate in field expeditions, and contribute to cutting-edge research in sustainable bioeconomy. It offers the chance to work with sophisticated equipment and be part of an international research environment in Bremerhaven.
Required Skills
Education
Completed training as a Biology Laboratory Technician or comparable qualification
Experience
- Experience with field expeditions
- Professional experience in simple analytical chemistry
- Experience with Epifluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry
- Experience with molecular biological procedures and working under sterile conditions
