Job Summary

This pivotal role involves leading the Facility Management Service Unit for 36 daycare centers in Berlin, overseeing strategic development, planning, and execution of all facility management processes. The successful candidate will manage construction projects, including new builds and renovations, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget adherence. Key responsibilities also include technical, infrastructural, and commercial building management, IT and communication systems oversight, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety regulations. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team across various specialized areas, coordinate with architects and internal departments, and play a crucial role in optimizing operational procedures for an organization with over 1,000 employees and 4,300 children.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Construction Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Real Estate Management. Alternatively, a degree as a Certified Real Estate Business Administrator, Certified Real Estate Specialist, or Certified Technician with a focus (e.g., building renovation, interior finishing, structural engineering) or Certified Construction Technician.

Experience

  • Professional experience in strategic and conceptual development of facility management processes
  • Experience in planning, steering, and monitoring work processes in facility management
  • Experience in construction project management (new builds, renovations)
  • Experience in technical, infrastructural, and commercial building management

Additional

  • Initial two-year fixed-term contract with the goal of permanent employment. For current Berlin state employees, a two-year allowance per § 31 TV-L with the goal of permanent transfer. Position is available from January 1, 2026. Employment is 100% of regular working hours, with part-time (minimum 75%) possible. Location is Kindertagesstätten Berlin Süd-West – Geschäftsstelle, Mittelstr. 7, 12167 Berlin.
