Job Summary
The Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel is seeking a System Engineer, Administrator, and 2nd Level Supporter to join their data center team. This role involves the operation, maintenance, and further development of central IT infrastructures and services for workplace IT. The successful candidate will work with Active Directory, client/mobile device management systems, and Windows Terminal Server farms, with VDI technologies in preparation. Key responsibilities include integrating into existing infrastructures, supporting operations, and advancing PC support and IT security concepts within the university's network. The position requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise Technologies, particularly Active Directory, and experience with various operating systems including Windows, Apple, and Linux. Required Skills
Education
Scientific university degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or an engineering discipline; OR a scientific university degree in another field with at least three years of extensive IT support experience; OR vocational training as an IT specialist with at least good grades.
Experience
- At least three years of extensive experience in IT support (if not a scientific university degree in IT/Physics/Mathematics/Engineering)
- At least three years of relevant professional experience (if a vocational training as IT specialist with at least good grades)
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Microsoft Enterprise Technologies, especially Active Directory
- Experience and knowledge in Client and Mobile Device Management technologies (desirable)
- Fluent and confident handling of Apple platforms, Linux, and mobile IT (desirable)
- Experience and knowledge in VDI and Terminal Server technologies (desirable)
- Practical experience in supporting workplace IT in organizations (desirable)
