Job Summary

This role as a Kubernetes System Administrator within the Digital Innovation department of the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) offers a unique opportunity to apply technical skills in a critical environment. You will collaborate with a team to administer and develop a highly secure Kubernetes platform in a private cloud, contributing to a modern, scalable, and resilient infrastructure. This infrastructure is vital for supporting developer teams and ensuring the 24/7 availability and integrity of IT facilities, crucial for police and administrative tasks. The position involves designing and expanding a dynamic Private Cloud across multiple geographical locations to enhance application availability, working alongside national and international security authorities to build an infrastructure essential for public safety.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Computer Science (Diplom [FH] or Bachelor) or comparable MINT degree with IT component; alternatively, completed vocational training with IT focus and at least three years of professional experience in a relevant IT-oriented field; or completed vocational training with at least six years of professional experience in a relevant IT-oriented field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Kubernetes deployment and cluster management
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kubernetes operators
  • Strong knowledge of network and security concepts for Kubernetes
  • Strong knowledge in monitoring and logging of Kubernetes infrastructures (e.g., with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK-Stack)
  • Professional experience in a relevant IT-oriented field (if no university degree)

Additional

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including 24/7 on-call duty every six weeks. Must be eligible to work for a German federal authority.
