Job Summary

As a Kubernetes System Administrator at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), you will be instrumental in managing and evolving a highly secure Kubernetes platform within a private cloud environment. This role involves ensuring the continuous availability, integrity, and performance of critical IT systems that support police and administrative functions. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to build a modern, scalable, and resilient infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge technologies. Day-to-day tasks include planning, administration, and consulting for Kubernetes applications, automating infrastructure processes using tools like Ansible and Terraform, and defining infrastructure solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to public safety by shaping a dynamic private cloud that is constantly expanding to new geographical locations.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Computer Science (Diploma [FH] or Bachelor) or a comparable university degree in a MINT field with an IT component, OR comparable skills and experience with at least a completed IT-focused vocational training and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a relevant IT role, OR comparable skills and experience with at least a completed vocational training and a minimum of six years of professional experience in a relevant IT role.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Kubernetes cluster deployment and management
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kubernetes operators
  • In-depth knowledge of network and security concepts for Kubernetes
  • Experience in monitoring and logging Kubernetes infrastructures

Additional

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including 24/7 on-call duty every six weeks. Consent to an extended security clearance check according to § 9 SÜG (Security Clearance Act) is required.
