Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Master's graduate to join the Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU) as a University Intern focusing on Ecological Public Procurement. You will actively contribute to projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions within federal procurement processes, aligning with Switzerland's climate goals. Key responsibilities include conducting best practice analyses, identifying needs for new tools, and assisting with the implementation of sustainability measures. A crucial part of the role involves promoting existing sustainable procurement resources through communication initiatives and updating the specialist unit's online presence. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in environmental sciences or engineering, coupled with experience in life cycle assessments or climate accounting, who are keen to shape the federal government's exemplary role in sustainable procurement and climate legislation.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree, preferably in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related fields with broad sustainability knowledge

Experience

  • Professional experience with life cycle assessment and/or climate accounting
  • Demonstrated interest in political affairs and administrative processes
  • Ability to process complex information into easily understandable communication formats
  • Experience in self-organization and integrating into new subject areas

Additional

  • The Master's degree must have been obtained no more than 1 year prior to the start of the position. The internship must take place after graduation; it cannot be part of ongoing studies. Start date: March 1, 2026, limited until October 31, 2026. Work percentage: 80-100%.
